The staff and Dr. Oliver were very nice and efficient. They made both myself and my daughter feel comfortable and explained the process to not only my understanding, but to my daughters as well. Highly impressed.

" The best !!! Our whole family goes here including my 12 year old. I recently utilized their sedation dentistry option for 2 tooth extractions and it was a great experience. The post treatment plan and follow up were excellent as well. Both Dr Lewcock and Dr Zavala are the best, you can’t make a bad choice with either one. Highly recommend! "

Our Orthodontics Services

Braces & Orthodontics

At Bexar Orthodontists & Pediatric Dentists, we know that excellent braces and orthodontic care is about more than just cosmetics and a straight smile. Many patients do not realize that alignment is also important for overall dental health and that improper alignment can cause jaw pain and chewing dysfunction. Overcrowded teeth can be more susceptible to decay and the surrounding gums are more likely to develop periodontal disease. When you choose Bexar Orthodontists & Pediatric Dentists for braces, Clear Aligners, or other services, you are choosing a happier, healthier smile.

Clear Braces

Braces have come a long way over the years! Traditional metal braces and brackets used to be your only option for straighter teeth. But today, orthodontic patients of all ages enjoy several treatment alternatives that are far less noticeable but equally effective—including clear braces. These braces are made from natural, tooth-colored ceramic or clear materials, so people will only notice your smile.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners offer the teeth-straightening benefits of traditional braces but without all the metal and wires. This solution is discreet and removable, allowing you to smile more throughout your orthodontic treatment. Additionally, it allows you to maintain your routine dental care regimen, brushing and flossing with ease, even while straightening your teeth.

Clear aligners for teens are different from their adult counterpart because they're specially catered toward the needs of growing teenage dental structures. While offering all the same features and benefits of standard clear aligner treatment, this solution helps teenagers keep track of their wearing times, avoiding mistreatment or misalignment from forgotten use.

Surgical Orthodontics

Many smiles are corrected through basic orthodontic treatment and braces alone, but when larger issues pertaining to the jaw or facial structure affect a patient’s ability to chew, speak, or breathe, they may require surgery. Surgical orthodontic treatments are reserved for patients with improper bites or aesthetic facial concerns and are used in conjunction with traditional braces.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should my child first see an orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. Even if treatment isn't needed yet, an early visit lets our San Antonio orthodontist spot bite or alignment issues while the jaw is still developing. Adults can begin orthodontic treatment at any age.

How long does orthodontic treatment usually take?

Most orthodontic treatments take 12 to 24 months. Mild crowding or spacing can sometimes be corrected in 6 months, while more complex bite corrections may take 24-30 months. We'll give you a realistic timeline at your free consultation.

How much does orthodontic treatment cost in San Antonio?

In San Antonio, orthodontic treatment typically ranges from $3,000 to $8,000 depending on whether you choose braces or clear aligners, the length of treatment, and the complexity of your case. We provide an all-inclusive quote at your free consultation, with 0% interest monthly payment plans available.

Do you accept insurance and offer payment plans?

Yes. We accept most major dental insurance plans with orthodontic coverage and offer in-house, interest-free monthly payment plans. HSA and FSA payments are also accepted.

What's the difference between an orthodontist and a regular dentist?

An orthodontist is a dental specialist who completed 2-3 additional years of training after dental school, focused specifically on tooth movement, jaw alignment, and bite correction. A general dentist focuses on overall oral health; an orthodontist focuses exclusively on straightening teeth and correcting bites.

Will orthodontic treatment hurt?

Most patients feel only mild soreness for a few days after braces are placed, after each adjustment, or when switching to a new aligner. Over-the-counter pain relief and soft foods are usually enough to stay comfortable.

How often will I need to come in for appointments?

Most patients in active treatment visit our San Antonio office every 4 to 8 weeks for a short check-up. Clear aligner patients typically have longer intervals between visits than traditional braces patients.
